So, I was taking a long overdue look at lots of quilting blogs, flickr groups, and link parties ... and well, look what happened. Now, like so many other quilters out there currently, I am making a Scrappy Trip Around The World quilt.
I wanted a scrappy project next and I wanted to do something traditional again. I had found the tutorial for this a long time ago and was intrigued, but seeing so many others excited about it now was just the nudge I needed to get going.

My plan is simple. I am using a black and white fabric for the center diagonal. Other than that I am using scraps. Colourful scraps of course since that is all I have!
Here are some strips I have cut and ready to go. I really think this is the perfect project for me right now. I only have a wee bit of quilting time so this is great to do just a square here and there!

This is the tutorial I'm using in case you'd like to try too! And I decided to link up to The Needle and Thread Network.

I like what you're doing with the b/w diagonal. I've looked at this tutorial and I think it has one problem of the diagonals butting against each other when four blocks are sewn together. you are going to have two b/w blocks side by side which means the diamond won't have sharp corners. when I made a trip around the world, we had to made an extra strip so to make the right angle. does this make sense? email me and I'll try to explain it better.
Gosh, I'm glad I'm not the only one to succumb to the scrappy trip. I'm thinking of keeping that diagonal one colour and I was also thinking black and white but I'm not buying more fabric so we'll see! :)
Not going to do it. I have a love for b&w prints so I'll live vicariously through you on this one.
So far I have managed to avoid joining in. Yours looks lovely. What I need is an easy block that works in one colour for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge!
Nobody is immune to the Trip Along!! (Insert evil laugh here!) Also, these aren't the droids you're looking for....
You can't go wrong with a Bonnie Hunter tutorial...I love these quilts and have dozens of them for baby quilts, QOV's and just fun giveaway quilts. Happy Sewing even if it is only 15 minutes at a time.
Wow so many people are doing this...must resist:)
Have you seen the photos of this project on instagram?? It’s crazy viral! Check out #scrappytripalong
what a wonderful bright scrappy trip around the world - love it! B/W with bright is always a winner in my books. I've managed to not get drawn into that trip just yet. We'll see how long I hold out!
ME TOO! I had not intention to do one but I was GIVEN fabric, so what else to do...TNTN link up will be full of them in a week or two!
