I finished this quilt top a long time back, maybe early fall last year, but it sat around unquilted and unbound until now. I am so pleased it is all done. It is for my niece who is three.
The layout is my own design. I really like how the sashing divides the squares up into groups. I sent it out to be quilted. I could have done the quilting myself as it isn't a huge quilt, but I would have just done straight lines. Instead I really like a nice tight overall stipple for quilts that will be washed frequently -- which I suspect this will. They just seem to hold up better. And Tina (long-armer) does such a nice job!
My niece's name is Molly, so there is an M square for her. There are also lots of 'girly' pink and purple squares -- flowers, butterflies, hearts, princess stuff, etc. No two squares are alike.
This shows a peek at the backing and binding. The binding is yellow with white polka dots. The flowers on the backing all have smiling faces.
I'm really happy with how it turned out ... now I just need to get my nephews' quilts done.

Nice quilt and great background, too!
it's a really pretty quilt and I'm sure your niece will be fascinated with all the squares. I like your layout and sashing color as well as the backing fabric too. You definitely have the eye!
This Girly "I Spy" is so cute, Riel. My new granddaughter is now 5 mos old, so I am starting a collection of cute fabrics for her first "I Spy". I have a 12-yr old granddaughter, too, and her "Kitty Cucumber" quilt is now 10 yrs old and much-loved. I will have to make her a more adult quilt for her bed, I think....Julierose
Super cute! I have some fabric (actually just down to a scrap now, which makes me kinda sad) that has yellow sunflowers, all with smiling faces. So fun. What a fabulous quilt! Lucky niece.
So cute!! I love the sashing! I am sure she will love it!
I love the I spy stuff I joined a swap and cant wait for them to come back to make me one too. My baby is while not born yet so I got all the time in the world. But I am sure my 7 year old can have some fun with it when I get it done.

Love your "I Spy". I have made them with "no 2 alike", but I usually make a "mistake" - something mysterious for them to find the one that has a twin. Sometimes I make them 2 the same, but that gets to be tricky on some larger prints - depending on how much fabric you have, there may not be another motif like the first one.
Hugs!
Lovely quilt! I love the I spy idea.
Thanks so much everyone. I love, love I spy stuff ... I am still drawn to new fabrics thinking they would be great fabric to "Spy" even though I really don't need anymore right now. :-)
wonderful Riel... like the orange sashing.... my turn to be sick... miserable actually!! what a cold!!
What a cute quilt!
Very, very pretty!
