2.5 inch strips of random lengths.
Half red.
Half green.
-
Method: Grab one red, then one green, sew. One more red, one more green. Sew. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat ... until I have about a five mile long fabric strip. Then I'll cut that strip up into 48 patchwork strips of 62 inches long each. Sew again. :-) This will be a twin-sized quilt for Eli's bed.

Sounds awesome :)
Love strip quilts! I am hoping to start my first Christmas quilt (full size that is) today ;-)
You are a busy elf!
Just curious, how wide would a strip have to be to get saved for a string quilt and if it were too skinny, what would you do with it?
Such nice fabrics: the quilt will be wonderful!!
Sounds great! Look forward to seeing how it turns out!
Love this idea--eager to see the next set of progress photos.
I'm intrigued, and anxious to see your progress photos.
I can't wait to see it!
This mismash of strips has promise for an awesome looking Christmas quilt! Hurry, sew faster! I want to see it! LOL
Annie
That's going to be a fabulous quilt! Sounds almost like a Jelly Roll 1600
Here is a you-tube link to the Jelly Roll http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EomX7t7to_oquilt Peg mentioned:
hmmmm. Anyways, no cutting involved, just the sewing of the strips - you will see if you check out the video!!
Only thing, the lady said who has done this is, to wrap the super long string in some way so it won't be a tangled mess when you go to sew it togher.... But it is such a fun sounding project that I want to do one too!!!
Have fun!!!
I wanna make one of those too. Cut 18" off the end of the first strip and then sew the rest of the jelly roll together in one long strip. Be sure to mitre. I can't wait to do one.
Can't wait to see the progress pics!
OK... I am just a bit confused. Am I sewing the "end" together?? yes???
Hi lej619, The other commenters are talking about a different type quilt from the one I'm making. I will be cutting my strips and then sewing the strips together.
I love your quilts! :)
