Up Next: Christmas Strip Quilt

2.5 inch strips of random lengths.
 Half red.
Half green.
-
Method:  Grab one red, then one green, sew.  One more red, one more green.  Sew.  Repeat.  Repeat.  Repeat ... until I have about a five mile long fabric strip.  Then I'll cut that strip up into 48 patchwork strips of 62 inches long each.  Sew again.  :-)  This will be a twin-sized quilt for Eli's bed.

Progress photos soon.  I'm linking with Fabric Tuesday.

You are a busy elf!

Just curious, how wide would a strip have to be to get saved for a string quilt and if it were too skinny, what would you do with it?

That's going to be a fabulous quilt! Sounds almost like a Jelly Roll 1600

Here is a you-tube link to the Jelly Roll http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EomX7t7to_oquilt Peg mentioned:

hmmmm. Anyways, no cutting involved, just the sewing of the strips - you will see if you check out the video!!
Only thing, the lady said who has done this is, to wrap the super long string in some way so it won't be a tangled mess when you go to sew it togher.... But it is such a fun sounding project that I want to do one too!!!

Have fun!!!

I wanna make one of those too. Cut 18" off the end of the first strip and then sew the rest of the jelly roll together in one long strip. Be sure to mitre. I can't wait to do one.

OK... I am just a bit confused. Am I sewing the "end" together?? yes???

Hi lej619, The other commenters are talking about a different type quilt from the one I'm making. I will be cutting my strips and then sewing the strips together.
