Guess what? I started this blog in March of last year and I am still here! Thanks so much to everyone who stops by, follows, comments, emails, links ... my morning coffee is so much more enjoyable when I see that my follower number has increased and I get to read kind words about what I've been doing. -
Above is the first quilt I posted. The Lighthouse Quilt. It was my first attempt at free-piecing and the third quilt I ever finished. (You can read about the first two disasters in The Story of How I Started Quilting). A friend and I looked at The Lighthouse Quilt the other night, and although I am really proud of it as an early quilt, it makes me realise how much I've improved in the past year.
Anyhow, to celebrate, it's giveaway time. Times three! I'm going to run one giveaway a week for the rest of the month. Why not? It's fun! For the first giveaway, I thought I'd share some scraps since I've been sorting through them lately. One winner will win all the scraps shown in these three photos. The ones above are about fat-eighth size, give or take.
These are smaller.
And some squares I cut but didn't use.-
To enter, just leave a comment on this post and tell me where you're surfing in from. My son loves geography and loves to look up places in his atlases or on his globe. I asked for this same information another time I had a giveaway and he had so much fun finding the places.
-
Giveaway is open worldwide. Open until 7:00 pm AST Wednesday, March 16. One entry per person please. Also, please be sure that your email is either attached to your profile or that you leave it in the comment. (I have to be able to email the winner.)
-
Good luck!

Hi! I am posting from Benton, Arkansas, USA. Benton is about 25 miles southwest of Little Rock, which is Arkansas' state capital. Benton is the geographical center of the state. Arkansas is the home of former U.S. President Bill Clinton. Years ago, Benton was also the home of Niloak pottery. Niloak pottery was fashioned from a unique clay known as kaolin. "Niloak" was coined from the backwards spelling of kaolin. Niloak pottery is still popular with collectors, and the most-desired pieces feature swirls of rich shades of brown, gray, teal, and tan. Kaolin is related to a sedimentary rock known as bauxite, which contains ores of aluminum. Bauxite is Arkansas' state rock (not to be confused with a pet rock!). Aluminum was once abundantly mined in a nearby town named Bauxite.

Following regularly from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Now ... say that three times in a row and you'll be granted honorary citizenship! Saskatoon, Saskatchewan is in the Canadian prairies and is a pretty, little city of a little over 200,000 people. Before living in Saskatoon, I grew up on a grain farm near White Bear and Kyle, Saskatchewan ... about a 2 hour drive southwest of Saskatoon. We grew mostly durum wheat on land rich of grain farming. My brother has taken over the farm from my parents and he still grows durum wheat but also sometimes grows field peas, lentils, canary seed, and even hemp.
Have fun with your maps!

Scraps are the best thing to jump start a new quilt. I'd really enjoy working with your scraps, rather than mine which are getting boring :).
I live in Torrington, CT, a small city in the northwest corner of this small New England state. It's still rural here, but close to shopping. The closest quilt shop, tho, is 25 miles away so I'm not tempted to just stop in.

To be a fairly new quilter, I am totally blown away by your quilting. I'm Deborah and I'm hailing from Atlanta, the capital of Georgia. You can visit the World of Coca-Cola here. We also have Stone Mountain with largest bas relief sculpture in the world. The Confederate Memorial Carving depicts three Confederate leaders of the Civil War, President Jefferson Davis and Generals Robert E. Lee and Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson (and their favorite horses, "Blackjack", "Traveller", and "Little Sorrel", respectively).
I'm from Costa Rica, we're in summer right now, it's really funny to look for the countries in the atlases, I use to do that one and again...
